The summer school is organized each year by another team of stroke physicians in a European city, and is supported and endorsed by ESO.
During one week, stroke specialists from Europe provide free expert knowledge to young physician with a major interest in cerebrovascular diseases. The application is usually in during in the beginning of the year and is announced on this website and in the journal “Cerebrovascular Diseases”.
Once the application period is over, the local organizing committee selects the participants on the basis of  :

  1. application (letter of motivation, CV, letter of support)
  2. current affiliation with a European stroke unit
  3. maximum 2 participants per country, one per stroke unit.

If there are available places, applicants from non-European countries will be considered. The decisions of the local organizing committee are final.
The summer school usually pays for accommodation, meals, coffee breaks and the social program for participants and speakers. Participants cover their travel expenses, the dinners outside the usual program, and any personal expenses during their stay including telephone and internet costs from the hotel.
